Navigating the Three D's in Meetings (Disengaged, Dominating & Disruptive) Part 1

I can still remember one of the first meetings I facilitated in healthcare over fifteen years ago.  I was nervous as a facilitator and intimidated by the senior level leaders and physicians in the room.  To make it worse, I was being graded as part of my completing my first of many certifications in healthcare.  Although it may not have been the smoothest of meetings, I stood up there, used facilitation tools and even managed to engage the group. Since then, I have had the opportunity to facilitate meetings for all types of roles from executives to front line staff and I will let you in on a secret…I still get nervous!  Regardless of who is in the room, how many people, and what the meeting is about, I rely on my trusted facilitation tools and meeting model to help me navigate through the three D’s: Disengaged audience members, Dominate individuals, and Disruptive meeting attendees.  Click here to learn more about the tools and model I use to get the results I want from meetings. Stayed tuned for part two that will dive a little deeper in to each of the three D’s
